Анотація

The thesis examines the origins and development of rail and road transport in Poland in the period stated in the title as 2000–2022. It compares the two modes of transport in terms of their development and the changes in their infrastructure and operation, and seeks to identify the key drivers and direction of these changes. The first chapter presents general theoretical issues relating to transport and international forwarding. The second chapter analyses rail transport in Poland, including railway infrastructure and developments during 2010–2022, with particular attention to the Lublin Voivodeship, completed projects and remaining infrastructure needs. The third chapter examines road transport, including road infrastructure, new investments and newly constructed route sections over a similar period and in the same regional context. The research uses a review of academic and industry literature, reports and statistical data from Statistics Poland (GUS). The thesis concludes with a synthesis of the findings, conclusions on the pace and directions of development of both transport sectors, and recommendations for future action.
